Personal History
William Thomas Riker was born in Valdez, AK in the year 2335. His mother died when he very young and his father wasn't around much. Will wound up resenting his father and hasn't made peace with him. Will joined starfleet academy in the year 2353 at the age of 18. After graduating the academy in the year 2357, Will was assigned to the USS Pegasus as helmsman. The Pegasus was assumed destroyed in 2358 after a mutiny occured on the ship. Will sided with his captain and only a handful of people survived. It is believed that the surviving crew of the Pegasus withheld information in the JAG's investigation.
In 2359 Will was promoted to Ensign and assigned to Betazed. During his two years on Betazed he met and fell in love with Deanna Troi. After a two year tour of duty on Betazed Will was promoted to full Lieutenant and assigned as chief operations officer on the USS Potempkin.
While serving on the USS Potempkin Will leads an away team on Nervala IV to assist in the evacuation of scientists from a research station due a distortion field forming in the atmosphere.
In 2364 Will was assigned to the USS Enterprise as First Officer under Captain Picard. Then in 2365 with the assistance of Cadet Crusher from the future Will's role on the Pegasus was determined. A reprimand was placed on his file for withholding the facts regarding the treaty violation. He did not lose his rank and charges were not filed against him. He also married Enterprise Counselor Deanna Troi in 2365 culminating their on again off again relationship. Deanna gave birth to a son in 2365 named Will, Jr and she is carrying thier daughter now.
Was in command of the mission that found his double on Nerval IV. Commander LaForge and Commander Data determined that the transporter chief created an extra beam unnecessarily and one materialized on the ship and when it was shut off the other beam materialized on the planet thus creating two William T Riker's. Doctor Pulaski confirmed that they were both William T Riker. The two men did not get along initially with the Lieutenant Riker still in love with Captain Riker's wife Deanna Troi. Both men missed the meeting on Risa but for different reasons. The two Will Riker's found a ground of peace and Lieutenant Riker adopted the name Thomas to distinguish himself from the Enterprise CO.
Will was promoted to the rank of Captain and given command of the Enterprise fullfilling his dream after Captain Picard was promoted to Admiral.
