Notes: The Theophrastus-class was a small, sleek vessel, capable of being outfitted with quantum slipstream drive. Originally a civilian vessel, the Demeter - along with the rest of the Theophrastus-class starships - is the brainchild of Garvin Elkins. It was only through Commander O'Donnell that Elkins agreed to retrofit the Demeter and make it a serviceable Starfleet ship. The Theophrastus class was smaller than the Galen-class, another single-purpose experimental starship type.
