Personal History
Michael Fortune was born Columbia, SC in the year 2344. He is the eldest of two boys with a younger brother Jeremiah who is 8 years younger than Michael. At the age of seventeen Michael enrolled in Starfleet Academy majoring in security and minoring in command. Michael graduated in the top one percentile of his class and was assigned to the Jefferson Davis where he served for four years before getting transferred to the Tian An Men where he became good friends with the ship's First Officer Derek Rothchild. He proved himself to the point that when Rothchild was offered his own command he took Fortune with him to be his Security Chief even though Commander Yar wanted the job to go to the duplicate of Worf who was stationed on the Enterprise-E as the Assistant to her double. Despite Sean Hawk getting the Second Officer position in 2378 Michael was also promoted to Lieutenant Commander that year due to his performance. When Assistant Security Chief Porter transferred off the ship Michael selected his less experienced brother to be the Assistant over the more experienced Thomas Fulton causing friction between the three men during the early days of the Project Full Circle mission in the Delta Quadrant.
